A gentle start to 2023

Have you found yourself scrolling through endless highlight reels over the past few days? Or wading through countless inspirational gifs and motivational memes about people’s hopes & dreams for 2023?

New Year’s celebrations and fresh intentions are all good and well, but from under the shadow of miscarriage or infertility it can all feel a little jarring…

How do share a highlights reel for 2022 when all the happy moments have been overshadowed by loss? How do you look forward to another New Year when all you expect is more disappointment? And how do you set fresh goals for 2023 when infertility makes it so hard to make any kind of plans?

One of our SPACE community members recently posted a reminder, ‘New Year isn’t happy for everyone’. And it’s true. So here at the start of the new year, can we offer you this gentle reminder?

It’s ok if you feel happy and hopeful about the New Year ahead, but it’s also ok if you don’t. The reality is that next this coming year will undoubtedly hold a mixture of emotions for all of us.

And if you feel like you’ve hit the start of the New Year firing on all cylinders, you don’t need to feel guilty about it either. You don't need to launch into the 2023 with any major resolutions, revolutions or revelations at all.

It’s only the first day of 2023, and you don’t need to have it all perfectly figured out just yet. And as this community knows more than most, there’s so much that we simply can’t control…

So be kind to yourself, take it slowly, and try a more gentle start to the coming year.
