SPACE. to talk

Try an online support session

Our sessions are a unique space for those struggling with questions about infertility, miscarriage, baby loss and faith.

Who runs the sessions? Every session is peer-led by facilitators with personal lived experience of the subject, and know how to sensitively handle these conversations.

What’s the format? We keep our sessions as relaxed as possible -starting with a cuppa and brief introduction to the host and guest speaker, followed by a Q&A discussion with them. There’ll also be some time for questions & group discussion at the end…

Who can attend? Anyone affected by these issues (whether recently or in the past) is welcome to attend, as well as partners and supporters.

What will be expected of me? You’re welcome to come along and participate at whatever level you are comfortable with - you can ask questions, share your own experiences, post comments in the chat box, or just quietly listen in (camera on or off). It really is your space!

Q&A with Hannah McCowen: childless not by choice

Hannah works as a manager for a national charity which supports vulnerable young adults coming out of the care system, and her husband John works with children and young people as well. Despite this, a few years ago they found themselves struggling with infertility and childlessness, and they continue to wrestle with what it means to live fully while not being able to have the family they had hoped for.

This session will cover themes around being childless not by choice, how to reconcile that with faith, mourning motherhood and learning to love the life you have.

Wednesday 17 June 2026, 8pm (UK)

Q&A with Anna Kearney: On miscarriage, secondary infertility and having an ‘only child’

Anna is a mum of one from Liverpool, and works for the university. After marrying in her early 30s, she then faced some health challenges, which meant pushing back plans for starting a family by a few years. Although having her first daughter a bit later was a fairly smooth experience, she then experienced a miscarriage with her second pregnancy, and began to reckon with ageing and declining fertility.

This session will cover themes around secondary infertility, pregnancy loss, ageing out of the fertile years, making peace with stopping trying, and learning to love being a one child family…

Wednesday 30 September 2026, 8pm (UK)

Q&A with Rev Sarah Watson: On baby loss, learning to lament and finding hope again

Sarah is a priest for the Church of England and now works as an Area Dean for Derby City, where she serves the diocese in numerous ways including being on Diocesan Synod and the Board of Education, as well as acting as chaplain to Derbyshire Tennis. Since her second big passion is sports, it probably won’t surprise you that she used to teach Religious Studies and PE before being ordained. Sarah and her husband Phil have one son Sam, but have also carried the sadness of losing their second baby, which triggered a sort of spiritual reckoning and rebirth for Sarah…

This session will cover themes around grief after baby loss, learning to lament, and making peace with being a one child family.
