How to support #BLAW

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Baby Loss Awareness Week (9 - 15 October 2025) is an annual event which aims to bring people together to remember all of the much-loved babies who died too soon.

At SPACE, we recognise that this is such an important yet sensitive time for many of our community - and that for friends, family and supporters it can be hard to know how to get involved.

Well, here’s a few of our thoughts about how you could show support…

Join the Wave of Light

You can join the Wave of Light to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week by lighting a candle on 15th October at 7pm (UK time) and leave it burning for one hour in memory of a friend or family member’s baby.

To help spread awareness, you could also take a photo or video clip of your candle burning and post it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #WaveOfLight

Reach out or start a conversation

If a friend or loved one has had a miscarriage or lost a baby - reach out to them and ask them how they’re doing, and let them know that you’re thinking of them during the week.

You could do this in person, but you could also just send a thoughtful gift, card or text.

You could also check out this useful conversation guide for advice on where to begin.

Visit the In-Memory Sky

Dedicate a star to the ‘In Memory Sky’ on the Tommy’s charity website in memory of a friend or family member’s much-missed baby. Not only is a beautiful way to remember them, your small donation will help to fund their vital research work into how to prevent future miscarriage and baby loss too.

Support in your work place

If you are an employee, you could also raise awareness in your work place. Whether that’s by lighting up a corporate building, or simply purchasing some blue and pink ribbons or creating a small information display - there’s lots of ways to get involved.
